Resolve to Add Zest to Your Nest!

The New Year is here and some of us have made Resolutions to better ourselves in some way, but what about our homes?  The Christmas decorations are packed away and as we look around the house our rooms look bare.  It is a good feeling, like when you purge your closet and can actually find things!  I like to look at this as an opportunity to RESOLVE to make decisions that we seem to put off for our homes.  

The thought of starting a decorating project can be either exciting or scary, depending on your experience, your budget, and your time.  I hear the following comments from my customers, friends and family…”I need to get rid of everything and start over”, “I want to paint but get overwhelmed at color choices so I do nothing”, or “I just don’t know where to start”.

Start with what you have – not everyone has a budget to get rid of everything and start over.  Most of us already have great pieces of furniture, art, accessories and even architectural features in our homes that we like so focus on those things and make them important.  The things you don’t like you can change up by repurposing, refinishing or recovering.  Another option is to consign or donate them to make room for something you really love.

So RESOLVE this New Year to add Zest to Your Nest!
